Russell Westbrook Records Historic 100th Triple-Double

The recipient of a bachelor's degree in business sports management from Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Craig Luschenat earned a master's in business management the following year from Oxford Brookes University. In between his studies, Craig Luschenat served as a player development intern with Integrity Hoops, where he led on-court training sessions with prominent National Basketball Association (NBA) stars, including Russell Westbrook.

On March 13 Westbrook recorded 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 119-107 win over the Atlanta Hawks. It was his 100th career triple-double, a feat wherein a player accumulates a double digit total in three of five statistical categories - points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocked shots. He became only the fourth player in league history to reach 100 triple-doubles, joining Jason Kidd (107), Magic Johnson (138), and Oscar Robertson (181). Moreover, since entering the league in 2008, Westbrook alone has more than twice the number of triple-doubles as all other individual NBA teams. He is also the only player in league history to record a triple-double against all other 29 teams.

Selected fourth overall by the Thunder in the 2008 NBA Draft, Westbrook had only 37 triple-doubles in his first eight seasons, but recorded an astonishing 42 triple-doubles last season after his All-Star teammate Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors. He averaged a triple-double that season with 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game and was named league MVP. His numbers are down slightly this year, but he leads the league in assists with 10.2 per game.
