Anthony Davis Records Rare 10 Block Triple-Double

A former collegiate basketball player, Craig Luschenat attended summer workouts hosted by the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Craig Luschenat is working toward a job in the league someday, and already has experience training high-profile NBA players like Anthony Davis.

A 25-year-old native of Chicago, Davis was selected first overall by the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans) in the 2012 NBA Draft. The six-year veteran power forward is a five-time All-Star, three-time Block Champion, and two-time All-Defensive team member, but he had never recorded a triple-double, at least until the 2017-18 season. Triple-doubles are often reached when a player records double-digit totals in points, rebounds, and assists, but Davis has averaged only 1.9 assists per game through his first six seasons, so it was unlikely he would record 10 in a single game.

However, the skilled rim protector recorded a career-best 10 blocks in a 116-99 loss to the Utah Jazz on March 11. He also registered 25 points and 11 rebounds to record the first triple-double of his career. The 10 blocks were the most recorded in one game in Pelicans franchise history. This season, Davis is averaging a career-high 28.3 points per game to go along with a league-best 2.5 blocks per game.
